Dear Friends and Partners,

Spring is in the air and summer break will be upon us shortly. The month of April is the peak season for making summer plans, including family vacations, summer camps and enrichment programs. For most of our charter schools, summer plans include extending learning hours and parent hubs to combat pandemic learning loss and accelerate recovery goals.

This summer, FCCS will launch a Master Class series featuring founders, families and friends. These sessions will be opportunities to learn more about quality school options, share best practices and opportunities to promote self-determination in communities across the country. Visits with legislators of color are currently being coordinated to amplify the success of charter schools, elevate the voices of our school communities and reshape the charter school narrative.

As we continue to explore regional opportunities to support existing partners, we are excited to welcome new partners like Malka Borrego, CEO of Latino Educators Advancing Leadership in Los Angeles, CA, who will help us amplify more Latino voices in education!

Join us in celebrating National Charter Schools Week (NCSW) May 7-13,

which coincides this year with National Teacher Appreciation Week. NCSW

is an opportunity for charter school leaders of color to demonstrate to our

communities and elected officials the impact our schools are making for

Black and Brown students nationally – from academics to creating safe

learning environments for our students that support their mental health needs.

And lastly, we hope to see you in June at Dr. Howard Fuller's 60 Years of Service Celebration

In service,

Jay
