FCCS hosted our 2nd Annual Legacy Award Gala in New York City to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Geoffrey Canada, innovator, advocate, author, and president of the Harlem Children’s Zone.
We gathered with dedicated educators and activists from across the country who are making a difference for our children. Marley Dias – activist, author, and current Harvard University undergraduate – emceed the event. New York Mayor Eric Adams stopped by to share some inspiring words. N’Kenge Carter, partner at Ember Charter Schools, moderated the evening’s panel discussion. And Tyron Brown from Capital Preparatory Bronx Charter School honored us as our student speaker.
The event was made possible with generous support from our sponsors including Black Latinx Asian Charter Collaborative (BLACC), Bloomberg Philanthropies, Charter Schools Development Corporation, Charter School Growth Fund, City Fund, DCCS Action, EdChoice, Equitable Facilities Fund, National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, and Yass Prize. Our gratitude extends to the FCCS Board of Directors.
Thank you to all of our guests who made the celebration memorable. Check out a few photo highlights from the evening below.
